goals & motivations
To create an intuitive user centric website that :
1. Simplifies adoption process
2. Encourages donations
3. Enhances the UX
How did we get here?
1. Stakeholder's Goals
2. User Research
3. Heuristic Evaluations & Annotations
1. Stakeholder's Goals
We sat down with the owner Donna Cox to discuss her priorities for the redesign.
Together we concluded the 3 pages to start with:
Donate
Adoptable Cats
Application
2. User Research
Users reported accessibility and usability challenges, as well as an inconsistent user experience.
Our team interviewed 12 members to note the specific problems when navigating and performing tasks such as viewing a cat, filling out the application and locating where to donate.
3. Heuristic Evaluations & Annotations
Accessibility. Consistency. Purpose.
defining the problem
Users are leaving the NTCR website frustrated due to usability and design challenges.
What's Next?
We used the research & a variety of exercises to further understand cat adopters and build a strong foundation for the platform.

prototyping
The team sketched various ideas & developed lofi prototypes which I proceeded to produce midfi mockups based on.

Midfi Website Mockups
validation & refinement
The team conducted usability testing with the midfi prototypes to validate design decisions & identify usability issues by observing user's ability to complete goals.
Round 1
Round 2
Once the experience was to a point we were okay with, it was time to start the
design journey!
visual design
Design Systems
main page buttons
3 buttons at the top of the main page which lead to key pages for an easy flow.
cards
Developing the cat cards was my top priority. By including tags and a small description, users are able to select their desired cats with ease.
filters & search bar
Users appreciated the ability to search through cats and filter them based on key traits. This is much improved from the user’s lack of control before, sifting though hundreds of options.
